RANT. RANT. RANT. SO ANGRY.

Published June 16, 2014 by laurenwilliamsxo

Hey guys. Unfortunately this post is just me having a good rant. Literally had the worst day ever. My phone got stolen at school and I hardly blog using my laptop because it’s slow and annoying. I use my phone for tutorials and much more so until I figure out an alternative… expect slow posts and updates.

Summer

Published June 11, 2014 by laurenwilliamsxo

Hey guys, here in Britain I can finally say that summer is approaching or almost already has. So I’m just going to tell you a few things about summer fashion!

Bright colours

Firstly Summer is for light colours. Black May be your style however try something new, you’ll be surprised about how good it actually looks on you. Black absorbs heat, therefore you’ll get hot and sweaty easily. It also makes you look incredibly pale. Stick to colours like white, bright yellows, oranges, greens, blues, purples, and hot pink.

Have a wardrobe sort/clear out.

Summer is the time that you change your clothes the most in the day. That’s a fact, This is because it’s hot therefore all the clothes you couldn’t wear from September – May have all been sitting there and this is your chance to wear them and you only have a couple of months so you feel you need to do it quick. I am actually one of these people. When I sort out my wardrobe all I do is just get everything out, chuck it on my bed and organise a ‘give to charity’ or give to ‘little cousin’ pile. I give clothes to my little cousin because she loves my style and I hate throwing away things that are still good but don’t fit me. So then I arrange my wardrobe in such a way that the winter clothing like hoodies, sweaters, jumpers etc are placed at the back of the wardrobe because I won’t be needing those for a very long time. Some people go into detail such as colour and size coordination and everything, trouble is I’m a lazy person Lol. So I put my summer clothing at the front of the wardrobe so it’s easy to get to. I do this for the winter too.

Summer shopping!

Some people may be fed up of the same old summer clothes and once in a while everybody needs to buy new ones. Now, my parents aren’t Halifax and with the shops I like its impossible to ask them to pay the full cost. So if your like me, this is what I do – I am a fashion fanatic and addict (a fashionista) so apart from art materials it’s all I spend my money on. So from October I save and then I spend the money in July and August. I’m terrible at saving. I’m the kind of person who sees the money and has to spend it. Therefore I do mine like this – if I’m about to spend £5 I take £1.50 out of it. If I’m about to spend £10 I take £3 out of it. If you would like to do this method, design yourself a little scale of how much you’ll take off from certain amounts.

Recommended Summer Shops

If your a first time reader here on my blog you probably thought “Oh no! This the part where she’s going to bang on about expensive apparel that I can’t afford”. Fortunately I’m a blogger who likes to talk about everyone’s needs and situations so there will be a mix.

1. Hollister
As soon as you walk into Hollister you can tell that they’re a beach shop. Hollister is fairly expensive and I actually don’t own any. However I do love the clothes in there even though half of its all the same thing with the logo printed on. If your looking for clothes of good quality that will last you a long time this is a great shop to go to.

2. Primark
If you call yourself a fashionista, live in the UK and you haven’t heard of Primark please leave. Your making me upset. Everyone must’ve been to Primark at least once. Primark is mass produced so there is loads to choose from. It is very very cheap and there’s a lot of it. It’s also very good for basics like v necks and camisoles.

3. Matalan
Matalan is like Primark however more expensive. It’s not really my taste but some people may like it. I got a Matalan voucher of £50 to spend and I literally spent it all on there jewellery. I didn’t like anything at all there And the things I did like we’re over priced.

I hope these tips gave you some summer inspiration as to what to wear and what to do! Thank you so much for reading.

Box braids hairstyle #1 – The wrapped bun.

Published June 8, 2014 by laurenwilliamsxo

Hey guys! So today is my first box braid hairstyle and it’s going to be one of my favourite hairstyles that I do a lot. So let’s go!

Before we start I’d just like to show you the three most important products I use for my hair. The first one is Control Wig Spray and it’s a substitute for the cream on the far right. It moisturises your hair underneath the extensions and prevents it from breaking when you take it out. The other spray is olive oil sheen spray and that just gives it shine and sheen after you’ve done whatever style.

From left to right: Control wig spray, Olive Oil Sheen Spray and Kids Organics Protein fortified Cream.

1. Take a section of hair from the front and tie it together, then tie the rest of the hair back. How high you tie it is up to you. The higher you tie it the higher the bun.

2. Make a bun with the hair at the back. (Secure any loose ends with bobby pins or tuck them in).

3. Take the hair band off the front section and split it into two. Wrap it around your head and where they both meet cross them over.

5. Tie the ends and tuck/bobby pin the ends down. To finish pin any lose hairs and spray with sheen spray.

Thank you all so much for watching the  tutorial and there will be more coming up!

1. New collection – Disney Villains

I got a bit bored of the disney princesses collection so I thought of a new one – Disney villains! No one really takes any notice of them and I thought it’d ne really unique to start this collection.

2. Box Braid Haistyles

I know this has been delayed for a very long time because I just haven’t had the time to do the post but I’m now kind of free so i’ll try and do this one. Here’s a quick preview of the first style.

The all new Lauren Williams blog!

Published May 16, 2014 by laurenwilliamsxo

Hey guys! Great to see all my readers joining me here again on WordPress. To all my regular readers thank you for staying with me whilst I did the transfer. Unfortunately it wouldn’t upload my blogger file to WordPress and I’ve had to copy everything manually to WordPress, so you may find that some posts with the lowest views have been deleted.

As I said before on blogger this is no longer just a fashion blog it’s multipurpose and I’ve named it after me so I can share what’s on my mind with you and not just fashion art. To all my fashion art lovers of course I’ll still be doing regular posts on that too.

Hope you guys like the new look, sorry for the long wait and they’ll be a lot of new changes.

The restructuring of Laurey’s

Published May 9, 2014 by laurenwilliamsxo

Note: The title of this post sounds intimidating. NOTHING BAD IS HAPPENING. Lol.

Hey guys, so i’m a bit bored of my blogging life at the moment so i’m changing things up.

1. Not just fashion related content

I love fashion art and that’s what this blog is about however I have other interests and other hobbies that i’d love to share with you but I feel I cant because i’d be going off topic. So the first change is making this a blog with lots of different areas and aspects to it.

2. Changing the name

I’ll be changing the name because the current name ”Laurey’s illustrations” is about fashion art but because i’ll be adding more things i’m thinking of new name. Please leave any suggestions down below.

3. A new look

I’m giving this blog a whole new feel and look! However this is google’s basic blogging platform and the things you can do on it are limited so i’ll try my best.

Black hair corner: What I use for my Box Braids

Published April 30, 2014 by laurenwilliamsxo

I’ve been meaning to do this post for a long time so here it is! This is going to be a whole post on what’s on my head!

In the previous black hair corner post I talked briefly about them and what I did. Plaiting box braids for me was £40 and took 6 hours. I honestly think that she didn’t charge enough for the work she did but hey, discount for me right?
Firstly I’d like to show you guys what I used. The hair I used was called expressions and it’s cheap but of good quality. Priced at £1.99 you can’t miss it in black hair shops. I used colour 4 (Black) and 99J (A reddish brown). It is one of the best packs for braiding and twisting it’s also very good because you can curl it.
For those of you who don’t know… The name box braids is there because they part the hair in a box and plait it :).
After plaiting all the way down (5 hours) my hairdresser boiled hot water and soaked the ends of my braids to secure them.
I’m a massive fan of olive oil products and after using them for years I can say that they’re a safe brand to look into and their products really do help you. Everyday after styling my braids I use olive oil sheen spray which gives it that desired shine after you’ve been fiddling around with it:

I also do my edges (Baby hairs). You’ll find these on the edges of your head. These hairs are too small to be braided so they are left however after a while they get picky and messy so I use styling gel and a tooth brush just to mould it down. I might do a tutorial on that actually.
If you have Afro Caribbean hair and need any help call me! I’m not an expert but I can give you a few good tips.
